Preston Bryant

The Secretary of Natural Resources advises the Governor on natural resources issues and works to advance the Governor's top environmental priorities. The Secretary oversees six agencies that protect and restore the Commonwealth’s natural and historic resources. The Secretary's office and the natural resources agencies work together to uphold the provisions of Article XI of the Virginia Constitution.

L. Preston Bryant, Jr., was appointed Secretary of Natural Resources in January 2006 and served for the entire administration of Governor Tim Kaine. Prior to serving as Secretary of Natural Resources, Bryant served as a member of the House of Delegates for ten years, representing the greater Lynchburg area. After the end of the administration, Bryant became a senior vice president at McGuireWoods Consulting in Richmond, Va.
