Samuel Cloyd Promised to Pay Debt

In this document, Samuel Cloyd, a "Britches maker" from Augusta County, promised to pay John Trimble £7. The nature of the debt is not revealed, but Cloyd agreed to forfeit a penalty of £14 if he was late paying the debt. The bottom right-hand corner of the note still shows where Cloyd's seal was once attached beside his signature.
