Edward P. Hendree Wrote To His Mother C. P. Hendree

Edward P. Hendree was a Confederate soldier from Tuskegee, Alabama, stationed near Richmond early in the Civil War. In this letter to his mother, he describes his visits to family and friends in Richmond as well as his sightseeing in the city. He visited the Tredegar Iron Works and Capitol Square, commenting favorably on the State Library and the equestrian statue of Washington beside the Capitol.
