Abstract

Contains a letter from Robert Wise, London, to John Weatherly regarding the outbound fleet & the homebound fleet. According to Wise, the homebound fleet met with a stormy passage and most of the ships were separated from the convoy. When the ten remaining ships sailed out of Portsmouth, the convoy's two men of war engaged a large squadron of French men of war & privateers who took & burnt seven ships.
