Abstract

Contains an address of the Council & House of Burgesses to Lieutenant Governor Alexander Spotswood regarding deficiencies in the revenue of two shillings per hogshead on all tobacco exported out of the Colony as a result of the decay of the tobacco trade. According to the address, these deficiencies were previously resolved through the use of quit rents. The Council & House ask that quit rents be used again to resolve the deficiencies in the Colony's revenue.
