Abstract

Contains an order of J[oseph] Addison, [Secretary of State for the Southern Department], by His Majesty's Command, King George I to Alexander Spotswood, Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, regarding a new seal for the government of Virginia. The order describes the seal and asks that the former seal be broken before him in Council and transmitted to the Commissioners for Trade & Plantations.
