Fesler family papers: John R. Felser letter, 1868 May 19
Papers, 1862-1868, including business cards, letters, photograph, and a report card of the Fesler family of Indiana. The letters, 1862-1864, were mostly written by Thomas Fesler while stationed in Kentucky and detail troop movements, rations, health, descriptions of towns and countryside, skirmishes with guerillas, hopes for a promotion, thoughts on the war, and news regarding his regiment. Fesler writes about a lawsuit initiated by members of the company, as well as arguments and strife within his regiment, the 63rd Indiana Infantry Regiment, Company K. The letters, 1868, were written by other Fesler family members and relate to money, purchase of goods, and family news. Also included are business cards and a photograph of an unknown Fesler family member.
