Abstract

Basil Earl Moncrief was born 7 May 1922 in Wood County, West Virginia. He attended Parkersburg High School. Moncrief enlisted in the United States Navy 24 October 1942 and served until 10 December 1945. He returned to naval duty during the Korean War and served until 1974. Moncrief married first Grace Evelyn Grady (1923-1994), second Martha Viola Lough Pugh (1919-1985), and third Audrey Z. Dunford. Moncrief died in Corpus Christi, Texas, and is buried in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi.
