Abstract

Robert Polich was born 28 April 1924 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland in 1942 and attended Oregon State University for one semester. Polich was drafted into the United States Army in December 1942 and inducted in February 1943. He was assigned to C Battery in the 84th Infantry Division. Polich served with his battery in combat in Europe from October 1944 to May 1945, then served with occupation forces until January 1946. Returning to Oregon, Polich attended the University of Portland. He was a elementerary school teacher for 29 1/2 years and served as time keeper for the Portland Trailblazers. Polich and his wife Eva had two children.
