Abstract

Papers, 1838-1865, including letters and receipts of the Odell family of Sullivan County, Tennessee. Also included is a roster, ca. 1838, of William Odell's Company 3rd District, Sullivan County, Tennessee. The bulk of the collection are letters, 1861-1865, to Daniel Odell from his son Phillip and other relatives. Topics include camp life, the battles of Fairfax Courthouse (1861) and Bull Run (1st), troop movements in Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Also included are letters regarding the death of Phillip A. Oden in South Carolina.
