Abstract
Billy Lewin Hottle was born 1 June 1921 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. After attending Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hottle entered the army 28 December 1942. He served in Company C, 99th Artillery Battalion and saw active military duty in the Pacific Theater of World War II, including New Guinea, Bismark Archapeligo, and the Philippines. Hottle was honorably discharged from military service 21 October 1945 and he returned to Shenandoah County. He married Virginia Mary Miller (1920-2001) on 18 January 1947 and they had two children. Hottle died 15 December 1993 and was buried in Tom's Brook Cemetery.
