Honorable discharge: Benjamin F. Williams
Benjamin Franklin Williams, Jr., was born 15 April 1918 in Wise County, Virginia. He worked for the Interstate Railway Company from 1934 to 1944, when he entered the United States Army on 25 July 1944. He served in the 131st Transportation Corps in the Philippines and in Korea. Williams was honorably discharged 8 August 1946. He returned to work with the Interstate Railway Company until 1965. After working for the Holston Defense in Kingsport, Tennessee, Williams retired from Norfolk and Western in 1978. Williams married Virginia Irene Fletcher 3 June 1939, and they had three children. Williams died in Roanoke, Virginia, 18 July 2004, and was buried in Powell Valley Mountain Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
