Abstract

James Stickley Beeler was born 7 September 1888 in Strasburg, Virginia. He enlisted in the United States Navy 19 April 1918 and served in France during World War I. Beeler was discharged from the Navy on 30 September 1921. A plumber by trade, Beeler worked in Beeler and Funk Plumbing and Strasburg Heating and Plumbing. With his brother, Beeler owned Valley Gas Company and later Pyrofax Gas. He married Elsie Virginia Jarrett (1898-1991) and they had at least one child. Beeler died 12 September 1974 in Winchester, Virginia, and was buried in Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg.
