The petition and prayer of Rebecca Watson a free colored woman of the county of Marion respectfully & humbly sheweth your honorable body that untill sometime since she was a slave & the property of William J Willey of said County that by her industry & [and] economy she was able to did purchase her freedom of her said Master and on the 25th day February 1848 her said Master by deed made acknowledged & [and] recorded
