deced of a plea for this to Wit that whereas the said James Wall deceased in his life time to Wit on the [blank] Day of [blank month] Anno Domini One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty five in the parish of Meherrin and County aforesaid was Indebted to the said Orphans in the sum of Sixty nine pounds three Shilling & two pence 3/4 so much money before that time had and received by the said James to the use of the said Infants and being so indebted the said James in consideration thereof then and there Assumed upon himself and to the said Infants Solemnly promised that the aforesaid Sum of money he would well and Truly pay unto them whenever thereto required: Yet the said James in his life time altho often required by the said guardian the aforesaid Sum of money to the said Plts hath not paid but the same altogether refused and the aforesaid Admor since the Death of the said James altho frequently requested the aforesaid Sum of money to the said Plts hath not paid but the same to pay hitherto hath refused and still doth refuse and detains to the Damage of the said Plts one hundred pounds And thereupon they bring Suit &c. F Hill [illegible] Plts

The Deft not Appearing It was Ordered that unless the said Deft Appears at the next Rules to be held in the clerks Office Aforesaid for the County aforesaid that Judgment Should be then entered for the Plts against the said Deft for the Damages in the Declaration mentioned and the Costs.

At which Day to wit at the rules held for the County aforesaid in the Clerks office aforesaid on the Second Monday in May in the year aforesaid came the Plts by their Attorney aforesaid and the Deft not Appearing It was Ordered that Judgment be entered for the
