We, whose names are hereunto subscribed, do promise to pay unto Armistead Hamlet, the sum of nine dollars per scholar for his true performance in teaching an English-reading-school during the term of nine months, commencing on the first day of February 1825, at a house which we oblige ourselves to furnish for the purpose & use of the said school, where the sd Armistead Hamlet doth agree to attend five days in each week, (court days, Holidays &c excepted) and to communicate to each scholar as much knowledge of the English language, Writing & Arithmetic, as in his power lies, agreeably to their several abilities: For the performance of which we do severally agree & oblige ourselves to pay unto him, at the expiration of the sd term, the aforementioned sum per scholar for the number annexed to each of our names, which we do hereunto subscribe, in witness of the above articles Peter Fore...1 + John [illegible]....2 ten dollars paid in full Isham Harvey....1 + Robert D.
