Articles of an agreement made and entered into this 5th day of January 1825 between Armistead Hamlet & Claborn Michell are as follows: Viz. The said Claborn Michell doth agree and hereby bind himself to Labour & act teh part of an Overseer for the said A. Hamlet during the present year for which the sd A. Hamlet doth agree and in like manner bind himself to pay the sd Claborn Michell fifty dollars when the crop of tobacco which he makes shall be sold which shall be as soon as it can conveniently be carried to market, also to have his washing done during the present year and to furnish him with two pair of pantaloons & two shirts of ognasburgs or one shirt of flax cotton hemlock in writing whereof the party have hereunton set their hands and affixed their seals the day and date first above written Claborn Michell his mark seal Armistead Hamlet Seal
