crestra [orchestra] the past two years had an arranged schedule of concert programs appearing in Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, Weyers Cave, Charlottesville and other places. It often served as a program feature at the Brandon. In all its worth the aim of the Orchestra was to render real expressive music.

Commercial School The problem that ever confronts parents is: "What shall I do with my Girl?" The average parents is desirous of having her trained in some profession that will make her independent and self supporting. A young woman is not really independent until she is able to earn for herself what she needs, for riches may slip away, but an investment in knowledge insures earning power and pays best interest. Our commercial and stenographic courses are arranged to give the student the advantage of modern and up-to-date methods, while in connection with this she has the opportunity of studying music or any other subject that she may desire, a special opportunity that is not open to the young lady attending a strictly business school. "No lady can have a better safe-guard against adversities of fortune or a better recourse in time of need than a knowledge of bookkeeping and business affairs."--Harriet Beecher Stowe. "Whatever occupation you may choose as your life's work, the first step is to secure a practical business education."--Henry Ward Beecher.

Outdoor Exercises The Brandon Campus is the delight of students and visitors. On this ten-acre foreground, the students have an ideal place for their promenades and various games. Croquet, tennis and basket-ball are the principle outdoor sports. We urge our students to take an active interest in the various games during recreation hours. Exercise and fresh air strengthen and vigorate [invigorate] which are inestimable assets to student life.
