Virga Sct Know all men by these presents that wee Thomas Godwin Junr Edmund Godwin - of Nansemond County are held & firmly Bound and Indebted unto the Hon'ble Alexander Spotswood her majesties Lieut Governor and Commander in Chief of this Colony and Dominion and his successors in the sum of fifty pounds of Lawfull money to ye payment whereof well and Freely to be made and Done wee Bind ourselves & every of us our and every of our heirs Ex'rs and Adm'rs jointly and severally firmly by these presents witness our hands & seals this 25th Day of March Anno Dom 1714

The Condition of this obligation is such that If the above bound Thomas Godwin Junr Shall and Do Erect and Build at Davises Landing one house Thirty foot Long & Twenty foot wide framed & well Cover'd and one other house Twenty foot square fram'd & well Cover'd according to the Directions of the Comission'rs appointed by the hon'ble the Lieut Govern'r and Compleatly finish the sd Buildings by the 10th day of November next Comeing and likewise make a good and Substantial wharfe at the sd Davises Landing then this Obligation to be void & of none effect otherwise to remain in full force and virtue Thos.
