Alexandria County to wit To the Sheriff of said County, Whereas Bob has this day complained before me Jesse T Ramsay, a Justice of said County that he is unlawfully detained as a slave by Silas Hutchinson, and petitioned me for leave to sue for his freedom, I hereby command you in the name of the Commonwealth forthwith to take charge of the said Bob, and him safely keep at the expence of the said Silas Hutchinson until the first day of the next term of the County Court. of the said county and that you then and there produce him before the said Court. And I command you also to give notice to the said Silas Hutchinson that you have the said Bob in your charge, under this precept. Given under my hand this 6th day of January 1854. J. T. Ramsay. JP.
