The Commonwealth of Virginia, To the Sheriff of Charlotte County, greeting: YOU are hereby Commanded to summon Moss and Gertrude his wife late Gertrude Holmes

to appear before the Judge of our Superior Court of Chancery, holden at Staunton, on the first day of the next term, to answer a bill in Chancery exhibited against them and others by Lemmon (a black man)

And this they shall in no wise omit under the penalty of 100l. And have then there this writ. Witness, William S. Eskridge, Clerk of our said Court at Staunton, the 14 day of February 1814 and in the thirty 8th year of the Commonwealth.
