To the worshipful the Justices of the County Court of Bedford the petition of Martin, Stephen, Matt, Daniel, Ned, Ben and Judy respectuflly represents that your petitioners are paupers & persons of colour and are unlawfully held in slavery. That they were formerly the property of the estate of Addison Davies dec'd. That the said Addison Davis dec'd. in his lifetime made & published his last will and testament by which he directed that your petitioners should have their freedom when they severally attained the age of 28 years. Your petitioners state that they are now more than 28 years of age each & every of them. Notwithstanding the executor of the said Addison Davies dec'd. still retains your petitioners in slavery. They therefore pray that your worships will permit them to sue in this court in forma pauperis, and that they may have counsel
