Caroline County to wit To William Sutton Constable and to the keeper of the Jail in the said County These are to command you the said Constable in the name of the Commonwealth forthwith to convey and deliver into the custody of the said keeper of the Jail the body of William Ballard of Caroline County charged before us of giving countenance protection and assistance to Emily a negro woman slave the property of John O Sutton (being a runaway) in order that she might not be stoped or apprehended and you the said keeper are hereby required to receive the said William Ballard into your custody in the said Jail and him there safely to keep untill he shall thence be discharged by due course of Law.
