Caroline County to wit. The Commonwealth of Virginia to the keeper of the jail of the said County greeting: Whereas William Ballard late of the said County of Caroline yeoman is arrested for suspicion of felony by him as it is said committed in feloniously stealing taking & carrying away a negro woman slave the property of John O Sutton of said County on the night of the 28th day of March 1832 of the value of Three hundred dollars. You are therefore commanded to receive the said William Ballard into your custody in the said jail, there to remain, till he be delivered out of your custody by the laws of the Commonwealth Witness Lewis George one of the Commonwealths justices of said County this 23d day of April 1832 Lewis George (Seal)
