March the 16 1862 Dear Brother I take tis opertune to infor u that I am well at Present and hope that these fulines [few lines] May find u the same And all of your famley tell Maria that I was very glad of them Socks that she sent me I wold like to se u all and no how u ar geting a long I am now at chereystone not more then a mile from the warfe William I wish that u wold do me the faver to take it a pon yoursef to go and se mi wife and if Possible find out the reson wi she dosnot rite to me
