[left panel inverted] property of said Layne to Wit Chloe a woman about 50 years of age of the value of $1000- Sylva a woman about 35 old of the value of $1800. Sam a boy about 15 years old of the value of $2000. [Fred?] a boy about 12 years old of the value of $1600. A girl about 6 years old (name not known) of the value of $1000 A boy Ceaser about 4 years old of the value of $800 a child of Sylvas about 3 years old the age or sex not remembered of the value of $600 Mrs Honakers Slaves were released. Said Clarkson also took sd. Layne three yoke of work Cattle of the value of $200 pr yoke and Eighteen head of other Cattle Consisting mostly of Milch Cows & heifers. the last mentioned 18 head were of the value of $1080 being $60 pr head the stock was fine durham Cattle, he also took from said Layne 18 sides of Leather worth $25 pr side in all $450 One mans Saddle worth $30 One side saddle worth $25 One pr saddle bags worth $10 One pair of boots worth $30 One pair of womens shoes worth $5 One overcoat worth $30 and seven head of horses of the value of $1800 all of this property was taken by by the men under the direction and in the presence of Col Clarkson and brought to the state of Virginia or a large portion

[second page] of $100 Each They being the best blooded stock all of which stock sd Clarkson took at the time he took Mr Laynes property and in like manner the men your Petitioner has recently seen at Glade spring in Va your Petitionioner Can if the oppertunity be afforded him substantiate the forgoing statements by proof from persons of the Highest respectability. He can Identify the negros and some of the horses by gentlemen of High Character now in this [place?] [illegible] said Clarkson at the same time & under like Circumstances & in manner aforesaid took from Mrs Christiana Hatcher (Widdow) two yoke of work Oxen of the value of $400 they also took from her $125 Cash. I have a Power of attorny from Mrs Hatcher & Mr Layne authorizing me to atend to their matters

I therefore now on behalf of the said James J Layne & Mrs Hatcher severally and on behalf of myself ask that the that the property afforesaid be restored
