To the Honorable Speaker & Members of the General Assembly of Virginia. The petition of Moses Ball Humbly Sheweth That in the year 1814 your petitioner Loaned to a Certain Tidings Lane of the County Claiborne State of Ten[n]essee, the Sum of $1310 Dolls. [dollars] and in Order to Secure the payment thereof to your petitioner, the Said Lane gave him in pledge the following Slaves (to wit), Ailsy, Cynda, Samuel, Ishel, Peter, and Bob, And provided the Said Sum of thirteen hundred & ten dollars was not refunded within Twelve months the right to the Said Slaves was to vest in your petitioner. The Said Lane has failed to refund the Sum aforesaid, has become insolvent, removed to Some unknown Land, and has no further Claim to Said Slaves.
