exertions to those of his brother and sister for ten years to come to procure their liberation and the means of removal for them to Liberia, where, by meritorious exertions, they may possibly promote the interests of their outcast species. Your petitioner therefore humbly asks that a law may be passed authorising him to remain in the Commonwealth of Virginia or in the county of Lewis for ten years from the first day of March 1830. Your petitioner refers to the certificate of a number of highly respectable persons as furnishing evidence of his character which he promises shall never be deservedly worse than than now[.] Nathan 20th Octr 1829
