Lewis County Novr. 21st 1829 We the undersigned do hereby certify that Nathan a man of colour (who by the will of Mr. Brown formerly of Harrison County was emancipated) is a Young man who sustains a good character. We do further Join in petitioning the legislature that the said Nathan may be permitted to remain in the Commonwealth of Virginia for such time as he requests, most respectfully we ask it.
