To the Honorable the General Assembly of Virginia. Your petitioner Elias Thrasher humbly represents to your Honorable body that many years ago he removed from the state of Maryland and sett[l]ed in the County of Loudoun where he still resides. That his father a resident of the State of Maryland departed this life in the year 1803 leaving a considerable property which he directed by his last will and testament to be equally divided at the death of his widow between his eight children. The widow departed this life in the year 1806 and in order to make a fair & equal distribution, the property was exposed to publick [public] sale each legatee purchasing such portion as he thought proper or at least to the amount of his Interest in the estate by which made of distribution your petitioner became the actual owner of two negroe boys viz: Sam. & Harry in part of his Interest in his father's Estate and in April 1807 removed said slaves to his residence in the State of Virginia believing that he was fully authorised to do so by the Act of Assembly passed the 12th of January 1807 he being a resident
