(3) P. Bristow a Justice of the said County of Middlesex on the Oath of Mordecai B. Gressett with a felony by him Committed in this, that the said John on the 31st day of March in the year 1854 in the said County, did feloniously and maliciously, in the night time burn the prison & Jail of the said County of Middlesex, and you the said Keeper of the said Jail of Gloucester are hereby required to receive the said John into your Jail & custody that he may be tried for the said offence by the County court of Middlesex and him there safely keep until he shall be discharged by due course of law, Given under my hand & seal this 26th day of April 1854 Jno Bristow (J.P.)

The following is the certificate of commitment sent to the clerk of the County Court Middlesex County S.S. To the Clerk of the County Court of said County I John P. Bristow a justice of the said County do hereby certify, that I have this day committed John a slave the property of Francis M. Jones to the Jail of Gloucester County Court (that Jail having been adopted as the Jail of the County Court of Middlesex by an order of the said Court) that he may be tried before the County Court of Middlesex for a felony by him committed in this that he did on the 31st day of March 1854 in the said County of Middlesex
