Norfolk County Sct Personally appeared before me Richard Blow a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid. Thomas Godwin of the Town of Portsmouth, and made oath that he was well acquainted with Robert Godwin late of the County of Nansemond deceased, that during his acquaintance with the said Robert Godwin he had frequently heard him say that it was his intention and determination to set free his Negro man Benjamin on account of the faithful services which the said Benjamin had rendered him.
