To the Honourable the Speaker and members of both houses of the General Assembly of Virginia The prayer of you petitioner humbly sheweth, that some time late in the Year of our Lord 1808 he became possessed of sundry Negro slaves in the State of Georgia, by marriage, and they being valuable more than usual to me, having been raised by my Father-in-law; and having a reluctance to sell the same, Your petitioner humbly prayeth that a Law may pass this session to permit him to introduce and hold in this state the following slaves to wit Allex & his wife Pleasant, and Solomon, Jesse & young Pleasant their children, Celia & her children Cloa & her children, or which he has become possessed by marriage and as is duty bound your petitioner will ever pray[.] Asa Varnum Cabellsville Nelson County Virginia 29th Nov 1810
