Territory of Wisconsin, Milwaukee County S.S. Special Term Probate Court Milwaukee June 18th A.D. 1846. Present Clinton Walworth Esquire Judge of Probate. In the matter of the Guardianship of Thomas Reilly Cleary a minor This day Nicholas Cleary filed in Court a petition in the words and figures following; to wit: To the Honorable Clinton Walworth Judge of Probate of the County of Milwaukee in the Territory of Wisconsin. The petition of Nicholas Cleary of the City of Milwaukee Wisconsin Territory respectfully represents, that Thomas Reilly Cleary is the son of this petitioner, aged four years, and now a resident of said City of Milwaukee, that said Thomas Reilly Cleary is possessed in his own right, by gift and devise of the following personal property, to wit: a negro woman, and child petitioner thinks,

of the value of about six hundred Dollars, now being in the City and County of Norfolk, in the state of Virginia, and in the possession of William French, petitioner thinks, a resident of said City & County of Norfolk in said state of Virginia, that said minor Thomas Reilly Cleary is under the age of fourteen years and incapable of choosing his own Guardian under the laws of the Territory of Wisconsin[.] Your petitioner therefore prays this Honorable Court to appoint a suitable and proper person Guardian to said Thomas Reilly Cleary under proper restrictions, pursuant to the laws of said Territory, & will every pray &c [etc.].
