In the name of God amen. I John Barr of the Parish of Wicomoco in the County of Northumberland being sick and weak but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God do hereby make constitute and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. Imprimis I give my soul to God who gave it in full hopes of a Joyful meeting at the Resurrection of the just thro' the merits and mediation of my Saviour Jesus Christ and my body to the Earth to be decently buried by my Exorr herein after named. Item with regard to my worldly Estate I give as follows I give to my Brother Zachariah Barr and his assigns forever my two Negroes Tom and Solomon. Item I give and bequeath to my sister Agnes Eston my Negroes Jesse and Harry to her and her assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Brother Zachariah and his assigns forever my Negroe Shadrach. Item I give and bequeath all my personal Estate excluding and not meaning any Negroe slaves to be equally divided among my Brother Zachariah and my two sisters Agnes Eston and Ann Hay each to hold their respective parts and portions thereof forever. Item I give and bequeath to my sister Agnes Eston and her assigns forever my Negroe woman Bett. Item I give and bequeath my Negroe Girl Aimy to my Brother Zachariah and his assigns forever. Lastly I appoint my two friends William Brown and Ezekial Hudnall Exorr of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills and Testaments heretofore by me made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this 13th day of March Anno Dom: 1776. Signed Sealed published and Declared by John Barr to be his last Will and Testament in presence of us John Barr William Brown Joseph Rosson William Rosson A Codicil made annexed to this my last Will and Testament this 13 March 1776 and part of the same I claim no right Title or Interest of in or to my Negroe woman Rachel and her Child Rachel and hereby order that the same shall in no wise forever hereafter be considered as part of my Estate and I do hereby give and bequeath unto my Brother Zachariah Twenty five Acres of my Land joining Jameson Palmer and Hunts Land with as much of my Estate as will Build a Hose thereon in trust and to and for the Benefit Sole use and profit of the said Negroe woman Rachel and her child Rachel and their heirs forever.
