Nottoway County Sct. This day Josiah Grigg appeared before me a Majistrate [Magistrate] for said County and made oath that he well knew a Negro Man Bob, the property of John Royall who was executed under sentence of the County Court of Nottoway, for insurrection (about Feby 1802); that he was a strong, healthy and Robust Man, an extraordinary foreman, and that previous to the charge for which he suffered always maintained an uncommon good character for a slave - that on the whole he would value him to $500 - given under my hand this 3rd day of December 1802 - Richard Bland
