Nottoway County To wit This day Richard Dennis Sr. appeared before me a Justice of peace of the County aforesaid and made oath that he was well acquainted with Bob, a negro man slave the property of John Royall who was executed under the sentence of the County Court of Nottoway some time during the month of January or February last for Insurrection; that the said Bob was a stout Robust and healthy man and posses[s]ed of many excellent qualities essential for a slave he was a rough Wheelright and blacksmith and previous to the charge for which he suffered had maintained an uncommon good character for honest and faithfulness in the discharge of his Duty as a slave: and the said Richard Dennis thinks he was well worth five hundred Dollars. Given under my hand this 9th day of December 1802 - Richard Bland
