To the Legislature of Virginia The undersigned Edmund F Vawter, Virginia Vawter, and William Vawter, the only heirs and legal representations of William Vawter decd. beg leave most respectfully to represent to your honorable body that in the year 1782 their father then a resident of the county of Orange and state of Virginia owned a valuable negore slave named Cary, by trade a blacksmith; that the said Cary committed a felony, for which he was arrested tried and executed.
