State of Virginia Orange county October the 31 1832 I William Wayt do hereby certify that I was well acquainted with William Vawter late of the state of Kentucky that the said Vawter about the year seventeen hundred and eighty two had a negro man by the name of Cary charged with the offense of committing a rape for which offense said [negro?] man Cary was tried sentenced to be hanged and was hanged at the court house in this county given under my hand this 31 day of October 1832 William Wayt
