Know all men by these present that I, John Hoger Sr. of the County of Patrick for divers good Causes me thereunto moving toward Richard (or Dick) my Negro man slave now above forty years of age, and more especially for his fidelity and great Kindness to me in my advanced age. I the said John Hoger on and after the 10th day of april next declare and pronounce the full and free emancipation of the said Richard or Dick.
