In the Name of God Amen. I Jane Barr of Prince George County being in my usual health and senses, with an heartfelt thankfulness for the blessings, do make this my last Will and Testament . 1st I give to my friend Henry Simmons Hardaway, of Sussex, my Rowanty plantation, the plantation on which I reside including the trail purchased by my father of John Imray's executors and that purchased of Abraham Alley, my slaves, Wright, Harold, Tom, Elieck, Eve and her eight children Ned, Nicholas, Sylvia, Edmond, Mary, Daniel, Seiginra, and Charlotte, also Fanny, Charles, Wiley, Betsey and Lucy with their future increase from this date, and all the residue of my estate which I now possess, or may hereafter acquire, with the exceptions and subject to the Conditions and provisions herein after specified and declared. 2nd I emancipate and set forever free from servitude my slaves Adam, Edith, Billy and Nancy with her five children Dick, Grandison, Davy, Harriet, and Mary with their future increase from this date, and on account of the extraordinary merit and the affectionate and faithful services of my servant Adam, I direct that all due means be used at the expense of my estate to obtain permission from him to reside in this State. I direct that each of the said slaves be furnished with a suit of substantial clothing complete including a blanket and Ten Dollars in Money. And I also direct that my executor do purchase a piece of Land for each of the nine last mentioned slaves in this state, if they can lawfully remain here, and in some other state if they cannot, equal in value to One Hundred Dollars for each slave, and that my said exors do cause the said slaves to be removed to the said Lands and a complete title to be made for the same at the expense of my said estate. 3rd In case there be debts or adverse claims charging
