Mitchell Thorowgood being of lawful age and being first sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God Deposeth and saith, that some time in the Month of April or May that a party of the then State Troops under the Command as he was informed of Capt[ai]n George Nicholas took away from William Thorowgood a certain Negro Fellow the name of George the then property of Thomas S. Thorowgood now Deceased and that the said Fellow was carried away by the aforesaid party and to his knowledge was never returned unto the said William notwithstanding the said William made an Application for the aforesaid Negroe. Mitchell Thorowgood 11th October 1788. The above deposition was this day made Oath to bye Mitchell Thorowgood before me Thomas Kempe J. P.
