Your Petitioner begs leave further to observe that it was not his intention to have offended against the laws of his Country, and that the act for which a heavy fine has been imposed upon him as aforesaid, was done from an opinion that he was legally authorized by the aforesaid warrant, to proceed in recovering his said slave in the manner before mentioned. Your petitioner therefore prays that the Legislature will take his case into consideration, and remit the aforesaid fine of fifty pounds upon the petitioner's paying the Costs of the prosecution, & he will pray &c [etc.].
