and deserted. Last night my friend & I started out for a little walk right after supper - about 8- & we didn't see a soul on the streets, except 3 or 4 of our men. It seemed like we were wandering thru a deserted city. Even in Paris the streets are dark & deserted looking after 9. When I went up to see the Rochester girls, early in the evening, it was so dark along the Rue de l'Armée that I stumbled up on to the debris of a house that had been bombed the night before. While on our trip I met many old friends. It seemed that I ran up on them every time I turned a corner.
