beautiful chateau across the river - The Loire - and having about two hours to wait for a train I walked over the bridge & went into the grove surrounding the house, in order to get a closer view. A young man came out & greeted me and requested that I go up to the house with him. I walked up to the house with him but did not go in, as I had to get back to the station for supper before taking the train. He walked over with me & stayed until time to leave. We became very good friends & he insists that I must be sure to come out to see him when I return. His father & brother are officer's in the French army. Another brother was killed last winter. We exchanged cards & agreed to write, or start a correspondence.
