[#]63 4 Nov. 1918 Dearest Love: I suppose the Austrians are enjoying perfect peace to night - not the German peace, carved out by the ever ready & much boasted sword. Hostilities ceased at 3 P.M. & I daresay our allies are now hurrying on towards the German border. I believe that the world will have drifted back into peace before this reaches you. The Kaiser has just made what looks like his little farewell speach, preparing the people for the announcement of his abdication.
