ON ACTIVE SERVICE WITH THE AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE PLUS AMERICAN Y.M.C.A 6 May 1919 Dearest:- Your letter of April 17th reached me yesterday. I am glad you are having such a pleasant time down South, and I wish I was there with you. The head of my department has just informed me that I should put in another application and that it will be approved this time. It will take about two weeks for the papers to go thru channels and then I expect to have my sailing orders. It will be a relief to get away. Why do you want me to stick to my uniform any longer then I have to? I should think you'd be tired of seeing the dress that has been prominent for the last two years.
