City of Richmond to wit: Be It Remembered, that on the 13th day of March eighteen hundred and sixty three Peter F McNamee, Washington A Griffin & Mrs Susan Baber personally appeared before me Joseph Mayo Mayor of the City of the Richmond aforesaid, in said City, and within the jurisdiction of the Hustings Court of said City, and each of them separately and individually, and by and for himself, acknowledged himself, separately and individually to be indebted to the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of Three Hundred Dollars, lawful money of the Confederate States to be levied of each of their goods and chattels, lands and tenements respectively to the use of the Commonwealth. The Condition of this Recognizance is such, that if the above bound Peter F McNamee, Washington A Griffin & Susan Baber and every of them, shall personally appear before the Justices of the City of Richmond aforesaid, on the 13th day of April, eighteen hundred and sixty three, at a Court by them to be holden in and for said City, in the City Hall of said City, in said City, for the trial of Virginus a slave the property of Burwell Jones charged with grand larceny and do then and there, in behalf of of said Commonwealth, give such evidence as each of them knoweth, concerning the said offence with which the said Virginus stands charged, and do not depart without leave of said Court, then this recognizance to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. Taken and acknowledged before me, in said City, and within the jurisdiction aforesaid, the day and year first above written Joseph Mayo Mayor
