I Crippen Taylor of the County of Accomack being under a conscencious vestion that nature & providence decrees to every individual of the human race personal liberty subject however to such reasonable conditions as society me prescribes hath & by these presents doth emancipate & set free a negro boy slave named George who he the said Cuppen did purchase from Satatech Fitchett & his brethren meaning that the freedom of the afsaid George shall commence & take place on the first day of January one thousand eight hundred & twelve.
