Fort Jackson South Carolina Sun [October] 3, 1943 Dear Papa an Helen I receive your letter the other day and was very glad to hear from you'all. Hellen send me five dollars of my money we don't get paid until about the middle of Oct, I hate to send after it but I need a little of spending money I wont send after it any more unless I need it when we get ship out in another camp they dont pay off until the middle of the next month [at bottom, color image of American soldier standing on map of Europe, one foot on northern Italy with explosion in background blowing three enemy soldiers into air] RIGHT OFF THE MAP!
